Mother’s Day 2012

It’s been awhile since I’ve written here, but with Mother’s Day quickly approaching I wanted to share something with you all that I think is pretty cool. Last year I wrote about the different and complex ways we are mothered and how that mothering often comes from many different folks in our lives- sometimes our biological mothers but sometimes our friends, our aunts, our sisters, or any other number of possibilities.
With that in mind, I want to share with you some of the e-cards created by Strong Families for Mother’s Day. The cards are part of their “Mama’s Day, Our Way” campaign and is based on remembering that, “Mother’s Day was originally founded as an antiwar rallying cry. A day to celebrate mothers is much more than a day for flowers and pancakes. It’s a time to focus together on what we want and need so all families can thrive.”
So check out these cards and take some time to reflect upon what the mothers and families in your life actually need- anything from supportive workplaces to national policy changes to sustainable access to food and medical care, or perhaps something I haven’t mentioned here.
For more cards or more information on the campaign please visit here. And a special wish for a very Happy Mother’s Day to WRC Director, Colleen!
